Picture one was taken on or about 1998 before I had started a weight loss program. Pictures two was taken June of 2006. I am currently on Weight Watchers learning about portion sizes and losing the last 20 pounds. In total I have lost one hundred fourteen pounds and have kept it off for five years. Gaining this weight and losing it has been a journey through every emotion I believe exist. My hope by sharing the following information and the ongoing information will inspire others to not only lose weight but to adopt a healthy lifestyle and to make life altering changes that improve their entire lives.
As an adult I have always had to work at managing a healthy weight. In 1989 during a very stressful divorce and custody battle I started gaining weight and just stopped working out. I gained the first eighty pounds really fast with in a year then another fifty over the next five years. I stayed at that weight gain for four years. I would walk and try to get back on track but there was not commitment. In 1996 my daughter and I were in a car accident were I received a sever body sprain and in was in tremendous pain that could not be relieved. In 1997 I suffered a fall to the back of my head miss placed the first vertebra in my neck. I spent the next eight years trying to end this suffering.
My body hurt everywhere all the time I had no energy I just wanted to stay at home and sleep. Somewhere inside I knew that the only way things would change was if I lost the extra weight and got stronger. A friend referred me to Avery Cotton, NMT. Avery was able to give me with some relief from my pain with this relief I was able to start to work out and I started a strict food plan. My food plan was nothing white, no sugar, nothing fried, and nothing to eat after 6:00 p.m. or three hours before bed. I walked everyday for a least one hour.
In 2004 I began my training for becoming a Pilates Instructor I was still in pain and carrying twenty extra pounds that I just have not been able to loose. Pain drains the body of energy and with the intense training of this course I was exhausted and unable to concentrate. Leslie Clayton referred me to Tracy Jones, NMT then Dr. Ray Fowler Chiropractic, P.C. as of February 2005 I have been pain free and still working on loosing this last twenty pounds.
Problems created from carrying extra weight joint pain, low immunity, insulin resistance, low energy and irritability, low self image, clothing cost more, social disrespect.
Pilates has changed my life, my body feels strong, I sleep well and have the endurance to go through my busy day. I walk a least five days a week four miles and practice Pilates daily.
